Ryan Seacrest had Ryan Lochte on his radio show today, and he asked about swimmers peeing in the Olympic pool. Here's the audio clip where the gold medalist responds,

Of course. I think there’s just something about getting into chlorine water that you just automatically go. [I didn't] during the races, but I sure did in warm-up. Heh-heh.

In related news, Salon surveyed the competitive swimming community and concluded that pool pee happens regularly. However, Salon's sources note that "you only need 2 or 3 percent of people to ignore this [no peeing] rule" before the water becomes contaminated and "no ventilation system can save the air around it." And then everyone inhales Ryan Lochte's pee.
