Following weeks of negotiations, Deborah Needleman has officially been named the new editor of T: The New York Times Style Magazine, according to a press release from the Times. She replaces Sally Singer, who left the position at the end of August. There’s no word yet on when Needleman will effectively leave WSJ. magazine, which she has helmed since July 2010.

Rumors of Needleman taking over T have plagued her since the job opened up. She was considered an obvious forerunner for the job as WSJ. had seen robust ad dollars under her leadership while T’s declined under Singer (indeed, Singer’s departure was reportedly due to lackluster ad sales). According to reports, Needleman has been negotiating offers and counteroffers between T and WSJ. for the better part of the past month; it appears that T was finally able to give her what she couldn’t refuse.
