Zoom Shot: Dolce & Gabbana’s Conquistador Dress

Citing Sicily as a source of inspiration, Dolce & Gabbana sent out a collection filled with raffia, more stripes, and burlap flour sacks transformed into skirts and dresses. Meanwhile, the prints on the silk dresses, which featured battle scenes, medieval knights, and floral vignettes, referenced the distinctive pottery of the Sicilian town of Caltagirone. With a history dating back to the second century B.C., the ceramics demonstrate the influence of various cultures (Arabic, Spanish, and Greek to name a few) of the region.
