The tip sheet itself seemed longer than a list of inventory at your local H&M. Indeed, last night's party to celebrate the launch of Maison Martin Margiela with H&M brought out Kanye West, Selma Blair, Julianne Moore, and Sarah Jessica Parker, as well as Doutzen, Stella, Trish, and other models who are famous enough we can identify them with one name. The day before, the VIPs had been invited by H&M to a "styling suite" at the Mercer Hotel, which meant that the partygoers — spread out over nine floors of 5 Beekman Place, a dilapidated former hotel that was a key venue at fashion week, and was rumored to be bought by Andre Balazs — had a chance to preview the collection before shopping the clothes themselves in the penthouse. That is, if they could handle a line that, at one point, snaked down three or four floors. All this, plus plenty of contemporary dancers, made for a somewhat pretentious party and an opportunity to get an early grab on Margiela's greatest hits, reissued specifically for H&M and available in stores November 15.
