The newest model to swing by the Cut’s Inside the Models Studio is 19-year-old Charlotte Free of Los Angeles, who discussed keeping her hair pink, even though agencies told her to dye it blonde to get more work. She also explained why she dyed it in the first place — after a painful breakup, to “shed my skin.” Her ‘do didn’t stop her from landing a Maybelline contract, but she did feel out of place at the casting: “I come in with my shitty clothes and my fucked up hair … and I got it,” she said. “They cast the outcast.” She was at ease with us, likely because we let her eat lemons.
