whole lotta hair

Aside from her butt-baring dress, the most distracting thing from last night’s Twilight look is the hair. It’s brushed, curled, pinned, and gleaming. Even if she’s not smiling about it, we are. Fekkai hairstylist Adir Abergel told the Cut he wanted to achieve a look that was “a departure from what we had seen on the red carpet with her previously.” He channeled Veronica Lake for the night, but with her red-tinted brunette hair, it’s also reminiscent of Jessica Rabbit.

The trick to re-creating the look is setting a deep side-part first, then sectioning and pin-curling hair with hairspray and a one-inch barrel iron. After the curls have set, unpin each one. Gently brush the curls out to avoid a ‘fro moment, then gather and pin away hair so that it cascades over one side.

As for the makeup, artist Jillian Dempsey used Chanel’s Quadra Eyeshadow in “Spices,” a bronzy-gold palette. “I wanted an iridescent, glamorous look,” she told the Cut. “I was able to achieve that by sweeping the gold tone shadow over the lids very densely and then using the darker brown tone to contour the shape in the crease as well as under the eye.” Black eyeliner — and questionable use of underwear — added a more intense effect.
