In addition to the thousands of women running to their colorists with photos of Kate Middleton’s hair, various reports say that lots of people are requesting her nose as well. The data’s a little fuzzy, but the Daily Mail interviewed several women who have done it themselves, and the British plastic surgeons they talked to said requests for her particular schnoz have tripled since 2011. One nose specialist, Maurizio Persico, explains why, in case you can’t tell just by looking at her pert little sniffer for yourself:
Her nose is straight with a cute, rounded tip and is perfectly in proportion to her face … This gives Kate an attractive and striking profile. Plus, she always looks happy and confident in photos, which is especially appealing to women whose own appearance makes them unhappy — those who feel self-conscious about larger or crooked noses.
Meanwhile, psychologist Carmen Lefevre, who specializes in the study of facial attributes, agrees:
The symmetry of Kate’s nose, the angle between her lip and the tip of her nose and the minimal amount of nostril on show, are all near-perfect.
Kate’s perfect amount of nostril doesn’t work on just anybody, though — you can’t just plonk one person’s nose onto another like a Mr. Potato Head. So sadly, the “after” pictures in the Daily Mail aren’t much different from any other pre- and post-nose-job photos you can find on the Internet. Which is to say, they’re still fascinating.
