Michelle Obama Wears Thom Browne to Inauguration [Updated]

US President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama arrive at St. John's Church on January 21, 2013 in Washington, DC, hours before Obama participates in a ceremonial swearing in for a second term in office.

For her daytime outfit, Michelle Obama arrived at St. John's Church in Washington, D.C. wearing a Thom Browne coat and dress, J.Crew shoes, and her bangs (!). The designer told the Times, "It's overwhelming ... It is one of those rare moments in someone's career that you will always remember. There's not a word that can really describe it. It's just amazing." Browne said that he was asked to send an idea to the White House a few months ago, but wasn't told whether Michelle would wear it, adding, "I wanted her to feel good in it and to feel comfortable, strong, feminine and beautiful."

This isn't the first time FLOTUS has worn Browne — she seems to like a gray, short-sleeve dress with a black lace overlay by him, which she repeated at the final presidential debate in October. This ensemble, however, will only be worn once; as the AP writes, "At the end of the Inaugural festivities, the first lady's outfit and accompanying accessories will go to the National Archives."

Yesterday, as President Obama took the oath of office in the Blue Room, Michelle wore a blue dress and sweater by Reed Krakoff, another one of her preferred designers. He told WWD, "It really is a highlight of my career ... What we are most proud of is that she would choose to wear something we created for her in New York, and to have that kind of back and forth."

In the evening, she and the president attended the Inaugural Reception at the National Building Museum, where Michelle brought out a sequined Michael Kors dress, first seen on her in September 2009. For everybody wondering whether she would shop her own closet for the festivities — here's your answer!

The question remains: What does FLOTUS have planned for tonight? Is it going to be better than her inaugural Inauguration gown?
