This morning, T magazine retweeted this announcement: “Kate Lanphear has joined T: The New York Times Style Magazine as style director. She’ll be at the upcoming women’s shows with Team T.” So, apparently it’s official, although T hasn’t given a statement of its own yet. Lanphear was reportedly in the running for Deborah Needleman’s old job at WSJ in October; she left her post as Elle’s style director for undisclosed reasons shortly thereafter. (There was some rumor of her joining a mysterious new venture called Editorialist, which has since remained a cryptic webpage with no foreseeable future.) Anyway, mazel to Kate! We already know she and her new boss Needleman are pals, because Needleman makes fun of her toes like only true friends do.
