Street Style: Welcome to the Roaring Twenties

By

Over the weekend, New Yorkers decked out in flapper finery traveled to Governor's Island by the boatload to celebrate summer's first Jazz Age Lawn Party. As the costumed attendees wandered about the tree-covered grounds (temporarily living in what appeared to be a real-life version of the party scene in Gatsby), feasted on scrumptious picnic spreads on the grassy lawn, and danced away to Michael Arenella and his Dreamland Orchestra's tunes, Cut photographer Bek Andersen snapped some of the more roaring and dazzling looks.  Click through the slides for ladies with bold bobs, delicate finger waves, and parasols, as well as gents with boater hats, suspenders, and cufflinks. And if this is your thing, mark your calendars for round two of Jazz Age Lawn Party mania on August 17th and 18th. (You can even test out our guide to Gatsby-era makeup.)
