There’s been a lot of debate about the anti-woman nature of Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines,” and even more debate about the X-rated video, which features Thicke and Pharrell fully clothed beside several topless models. But Pharrell has a bulletproof argument for the inclusion of all those awkward, half-naked women dancing around him. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Pharrell said he would never objectify women, since “we all come through the conduit of the bodies of beautiful women.” More interesting, he defended the video’s concept, saying: “We were trying to make a moving image of a page in Vogue, where you might see a woman’s breast.” Yes, we’re sure Vogue’s September issue will be full of high-fashion boobs. It’s different in that context, though.
