Hermès is celebrating the reopening of its Beverly Hills boutique with bright blue basketballs, The Hollywood Reporter shares. Each ball (which you can see on THR's website) looks like the illustration we've crafted above, except smoother, and costs $12,900. It's hand-stitched (in the same manner as a Birkin) and made out of bull calfskin. So far only two such Hermès basketballs have been produced — and thanks to the exorbitant price tag, they will probably never touch the floor of a basketball court. As for the ball's eye-catching color, the brand's U.S. CEO Robert Chavez explained, "It represents the sky, the ocean and all the beautiful pools that are a way of life in L.A. and Southern California." But of course. It also shares a similar hue to a Smurf.
