Over at Jenny Packham, the spring/summer 2014 collection was inspired by a cult seventies film Picnic at Hanging Rock, so TRESemme stylist Jeanie Syfu created a full, gorgeous head of spiral curls to match. After so many slicked-back, wet looks this season, it was fantastic to see a feminine and voluminous look.
First, Syfu applied mousse to wet hair and blew it dry, then she used a curl activator/heat protectant (like TRESemme Thermal Creations Curl Activator) on each section she curled. The trick here is to accept curls of all sizes in order to get a messy, soft look instead of Shirley Temple curls. At the nape, use a small iron; from the ears to the crown, use a medium-sized curling iron; and at the top, use a 1” barrel. Pin hair immediately after to set, and once cooled, take out and tease hair with a wide-tooth comb to soften curls and add texture.
Sound complicated? Yeah, it took two people per head to nail this style. But to get a version of the look at home, just use a mix of hot rollers and bendable curling rods, Syfu suggests. Do not tease hair with a fine-toothed comb, which will give you disco-frizz instead of beautiful soft, romantic Edwardian-meets-Disco-Queen hair. We know KMid loves Packham’s dresses, but wouldn’t she look amazing with that hair?
