Kenzo Celebrated Their New Bag With Skateboarders

By

Last night, Kenzo's creative directors Carol Lim and Humberto Leon threw an event to celebrate the launch of their new Kalifornia bag at — where else — the Berrics, an indoor skate park in downtown L.A. Celebs like Jessica Alba, Fergie, Rose McGowan, and Miranda July made their way to the Berrics to support the design duo alongside the (numerous) hosts of the event: Carrie Brownstein, China Chow, Gia Coppola, Rashida Jones, and Riley Keough, all decked out in printed Kenzo pieces.

Following a cocktail hour, guests were seated at four long tables that formed an X-shape, decorated with dramatic tall candlesticks and fancy flower arrangements. The dinner, however, was not the main event. After the second course, diners were told to stay in their seats while waiters whisked everything — including our wine glasses — off the table to reveal a Kenzo-emblazoned skate ramp beneath the tablecloth. Lady skateboarders appeared from behind a graffitied wall then skated around the rink, right up on the tables where diners were torn between excitement and fear for their noses. It was like that time Dries Van Noten threw a surprise runway show on a dinner table — with models and all — but scarier.

For those who had the fortitude to stay up past 11 p.m., a rager featuring DJ Total Freedom and singer Kelela followed the dessert. See all the photo evidence in our slideshow.
