Saint Laurent’s Star-Print Sweaters Are Selling Out Fast

At the Saint Laurent show last March, Hedi Slimane sent Edie Campbell down the runway in a blue, star-print cardigan. It was, along with the sparkle-studded tights, flannel shirts, and baby-doll dresses, one of the most memorable pieces from the collection. Slimane later photographed the coat on Cara Delevingne for the label’s fall 2013 campaign; it was also worn by Amanda Seyfried in Elle, Zooey Deschanel in Marie Claire, and Chloë Moretz in Glamour.

When the weather got cold enough that people could wear the sweater in “real life,” celebrities like Katie Holmes and Pixie Geldof were photographed in it. Indeed, it’s an ideal item for celebrities in their “casual” moments — it photographs well, looks soft and relaxed, and is instantly recognizable without any brand markings. Perhaps that’s why it’s selling very briskly, despite its $1,290 price tag — so fast, in fact, that the Daily Mail falsely reported that it was completely sold out, even though at least two are still available on FarFetch (as we type this, that is) and still more on MyTheresa. So, we’re saying there’s still a chance, folks, but if you’re going to drop Christmas hints you should probably e-mail this story to Santa your special Saint Laurent Fairy now.
