The CFDA elected three new board members this month: Kate Spade creative director Deborah Lloyd, Prabal Gurung, and Ashley Olsen, to replace Isabel Toledo, Kenneth Cole, and Yeohlee Teng, who will now have Emeritus Board Member status, WWD reports. (A nice way of making them still feel included.) The board's responsibilities include ratifying CFDA Award recipients, hosting events for CFDA members, providing mentorship to less established American designers, and ruling over the New York fashion industry in general.
So, how did the Olsens decide who got to join? Did they flip an alligator backpack? Make each other guess which Superga shoe had the CFDA invitation stuffed in the toe? Play "pick a hand" with a pot of black eyeliner? Or maybe they'll share the responsibilities and switch off every year, like good siblings should.
