Wine Spectator has placed the Jolie-Pitt & Perrin Côtes de Provence Rosé Miraval wine, from 2012, at No. 84 of their Top 100 Wines for 2013. This is the highest ranking of a rosé this year.
When the $28 wine went on sale in March, it sold out in five hours. It has received glowing reviews. It’s notable for its “expressive fruit.” The managing editor of Wine Spectator, Kim Marcus, wrote: “The focused finish features flint and spice notes, with a hint of cream.” In Vanity Fair, restaurateur and vintner Joe Bastianich called it “Hello Kitty pink” and “very pretty on the olfactories — rose petals and confectionary sugar — but a little rougher on the palate.” It’s the little pink wine that could.
