Futuristic Custom Louboutin Boots are $30,000

For the (Red)Auction benefiting the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria, Sotheby's asked Apple's Jony Ive and designer Marc Newson to select their favorite objects for auction. The resulting items, which hit the block on November 23, are an expected cache of design porn: $20,000 solid rose-gold earbuds, and a Russian cosmonaut space suit that was actually worn in orbit (estimated at $50,000 and $75,000, respectively). In addition to high-end nerd gear, Ive and Newson found the only pair of shoes befitting the aesthetics of an Apple visionary and, we suppose, space-bound Lady Gaga: a pair of one-of-a-kind, custom-fitted, spiky, bright red Christian Louboutin boots worth $30,000. Maybe this is the reason Apple keeps poaching fashion-world CEOs.
