Over in London yesterday, the lilac-loving, bespectacled Dame Edna Everage made a special appearance at the annual Christmas lighting of Stella McCartney's Bruton Street store. The larger-than-life Dame, a character created by Australian comedian Barry Humphries, performed a comedic sketch and an ode to the designer before pressing a magical button that lit up the shop, transforming it into a holiday wonderland. Once the outdoor festivities were over, Dame Edna, Stella McCartney, and guests like Sienna Miller and Salma Hayek went indoors to devour mince pies, Christmas cookies, and roasted chestnuts, all while sipping on their choice of hot chocolate, Champagne, or mulled wine. Despite Dame Edna's penchant for head-to-toe purple, she managed to squeeze in some holiday colors (red) on her fingernails. Happy holidays, indeed.
