The Full Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie Lecture Beyoncé Sampled

Beyoncé’s surprise album features Drake, Frank Ocean, daughter Blue Ivy, husband Jay Z, and Nigerian writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. A TedX Talk from Adichie, called "We Should All Be Feminists," appears on “***Flawless” (refrain: “I woke up like this”), wedged between the previously released "Bow Down" and some archival audio of Beyoncé losing a talent show to a male-sounding, probably lame group called Skeleton Groove.

In the speech, Adichie defends embracing some aspects of traditional femininity (shiny lip gloss, for example) even though the gender norms that prescribe them are sexist. "I have chosen to no longer be apologetic for my femaleness and my feminity," she says, "And I want to be respected, in all of my femaleness, because I deserve to be."

Consider it Beyoncé’s official response to bloggers questioning her feminist credentials after naming her tour "Mrs. Carter," and then move right along to "Blow," a celebration of marital joy and love and equitable oral sexIn other less flawless news, iTunes misspelled Adichie’s name.
