Last week, on December 19, Madonna was fan-girling at Beyoncé’s Brooklyn show. She posted a very fuzzy, flattering photo on Instagram of Beyoncé performing, as well as one of Beyoncé annointing her 8-year-old daughter, Mercy James, with a kiss. She describes Beyoncé as “Queen. B!” and then even proves that she knows Beyoncé’s lyrics: “Girls run the world!” Meanwhile, Beyoncé just said that her gleeful-meltdown-causing visual album is her effort to follow Madonna’s example. After a screening of her seventeen videos, Bey told the crowd:
I felt like I wanted to follow in the footsteps of Madonna and be a powerhouse and have my own empire.
Life must be great in that mutual-admiration society.
