pre-fall 2014

The Best of Pre-Fall (So Far): Jason Wu, Proenza Schouler, and More

The pre-fall presentations roll onward, and today’s batch featured everything from formal separates to gorgeous coats to fancy cocktail dresses. Jason Wu explored themes of his spring 2014 collection further, showing lace and easy-to-wear evening separates. One standout was a sumptuous-looking sweater layered over a sheer skirt with beaded appliques — ideal for anyone who wants to stand out at a party. Proenza Schouler also elaborated on styles from its spring 2014 show, namely those wide-legged gaucho pants — but it was a graphic, layered look that was the most eye-catching. (A printed coat topped with a curly fur collar looks especially cozy on a snow day like today.) Over at 3.1 Phillip Lim, it was all about contrasting textures, like a crackled metallic leather paired with curly fur, or silk worn with suede. The most noteworthy of the bunch was a suit jacket split on the diagonal, paired with matching pants and furry chained sandals. Click ahead to see all of these and more of the best of the bunch so far.
