WWD has just reported that Art Ortenberg, Cathy Horyn’s longtime partner, passed away today at the age of 87. This comes days after Horyn announced her departure from the New York Times to spend more time with the ailing Ortenberg. A brief obituary celebrating Ortenberg — who was the founder and vice chairman of Liz Claiborne — describes his “vision [that] guided the phenomenal growth of the company in the Seventies and Eighties,” and his later dedication to wildlife conservation and philanthropy.
