Ellen Page Points to Another Double Standard

Actress Ellen Page attends the 2014 Vanity Fair Oscar Party hosted by Graydon Carter on March 2, 2014 in West Hollywood, California.

In an interview with Flare magazine, Ellen Page says that her relationship with privacy is different from that of comparable actors:

You hear things like, ‘People shouldn’t know about your life because you’re creating an illusion on-screen.’ But I don’t see other actresses going to great lengths to hide their heterosexuality. That’s an unfair double standard.

Now, after her highly watched coming-out speech in February, she is relieved of the pronoun stress that came when she spoke about relationships publicly. Page is also thrilled that menswear is part of her new red-carpet aesthetic. Like the Hedi Slimane Saint Laurent tuxedo she wore to the Vanity Fair Oscar party, of which she says, "I felt happy and confident and the difference was huge."
