We knew the Met Gala would be an A-list affair, but this is big news: On May 5, Michelle Obama will cut the ribbon on the renovated Costume Institute, now officially christened the Anna Wintour Costume Center. (Hey, Anna's given her two covers: getting handy with some scissors is the least she can do.) Obama will speak at the event, along with Costume Institute curator Harold Koda, Aerin Lauder (whose brand, Aerin, is sponsoring the Charles James exhibit), and the Met's CEO and director, Thomas P. Campbell.
