Boss (but not bossy) Beyoncé is on the cover of Time’s 100 Most Influential People issue, but fashion got a nod, too, in the form of Phoebe Philo and Natalie Massenet. In an essay about Philo, Stella McCartney recalls their days as “the naughty kids from London coming to the house of Chloé.” She also salutes her friend’s design acumen, writing, “One of the few female designers, she celebrates the simple and champions the quality and reality of a woman’s wardrobe. When people invest in her work, they have it for life.” Meanwhile, Jenna Lyons writes of Massenet, “She saw a world where people would pay $2,000 for a pair of jeans, a world where you can buy what you covet, where the magazine pages meet the FedEx man. You want it? You can have it. Click here.” According to Lyons, the Net-a-Porter chief likens herself to a “lazy rock,” but if that’s true, she says, “I’m buying stock in rocks.”
