Rosamund Pike Takes Off Her Makeup on the New Cover of W

Yesterday brought us the first trailer for Gone Girl, and today, Rosamund Pike appears on the May cover of W, in a glorious portrait shot by director David Fincher. The star, who beat out Natalie Portman and Charlize Theron for the role of Amy Dunne, calls the part "the best gig in years," and tells writer Lynn Hirschberg that when Fincher asked her to fly from London to St. Louis to audition, she replied, "I'll swim to St. Louis."

Working with David Fincher, says Pike, is "like being X-rayed — he sees things that you may not want anyone to see. Now I have to prove him right — I have to show the world that I’m as dark as he thinks I am." The issue hits newsstands on April 21.
