George Clooney Might Rent Downton Abbey for His Wedding

By

Silly-voices expert George Clooney is famously engaged to Amal Alamuddin. Wherever shall they wed?, you probably weren't wondering. Well, get interested, kid. Clooney is reportedly considering the Downton Abbey castle for his nuptials. This swashbuckling, American-bravado machine might liven up this pile of English stones with some Hollywood wedding antics. At least, he's thinking about it.

The Daily Mail writes that the couple took a private tour of Highclere Castle — the setting of Downton Abbey. Their source said:

When he saw his bride-to-be’s reaction to the spectacular Victorian castle, set on 1,000 acres of parkland, he began making some discrete inquires about having their wedding performed there. And he was told they would be most happy to accommodate them!

The Carnarvon family has lived at Highclere since 1679, and they rent the castle out for weddings and other such activities. There are fun tours to take, artifacts to see, Maggie Smith impressions to try, and "authentic Victorian foods " made by a chef specializing in such things. A fun time to be had by all!
