The Cooper-Hewitt Museum's National Design Awards, which recognize achievement across all areas of design, will be held at Pier 60 in New York this fall. Narciso Rodriguez will receive the Fashion Design Award at the ceremony; he exhibited his designs at the museum's triennial in 2006. Michelle Obama, who famously wore Rodriguez's dress to celebrate her husband's 2008 election victory, is serving as the honorary patron of this year's ceremony, though she will not be present at the gala.
