The Glam Life of an Indie Producer at the Venice Film Festival

This week I hopped a flight to Venice, Italy, for the 2014 Venice Film Festival, where I premiered my new movie, H. It’s the fourth feature film I’ve produced—a reimagining of a classic Greek tragedy about two women, both named Helen, in contemporary New York. I also went to a bunch of other screenings, took meetings, and did interviews for H., and of course, did a little celebrating!

For my basic wardrobe, I have a number of blue and white men’s tailored shirts that I wear with a blazer over leggings, jeans, or my Indian churidar pants. And I always wear a necklace or statement jewelry—most of it designed by my best friend Riddhika Jesrani, based in Bombay.  When I put together an outfit, I begin with my shoes. I used to start from the top but I injured myself running the marathon last year (I did finish!), and I need to make sure my feet are comfortable at all times.

During the day, I keep my makeup natural, a simple mascara and blush, and in the evening, I’m more playful and I may have my lipstick or eyeliner match or highlight an accessory—red lips and shoes with a hint of red, or turquoise eyeliner on my lower eye line that compliments a turquoise bangle.

I normally don’t use foundation at all, but Flawless Fluide is really an exception. It’s so easy to apply and it blends with my skin tone seamlessly. I also have combination skin, and the foundation has oils that help the dryness, without adding any grease. The Laura Mercier products make me feel like I’m celebrating my features. They are easy to use and made of great quality ingredients.
