Yesterday marked the first official day of New York Fashion Week and with it, Fashion Week's first beauty party: NARS and Barneys New York threw a 20th anniversary event, celebrating the brand currently taking a stand on sexagenarian hotness. Francois Nars, the man himself, was on hand to greet and survey a crowd of Schiap and Jungle Red wearers. Linda Evangelista, Grace Coddington, Taylor Schilling, Abigail Breslin, Lindsay Ellingson, and Alicia Keys milled about to survey the blown-up displays of NARS campaigns and artwork from the past 20 years. It was a celebration of audacious beauty (nicely timed to NARS's new collection of Audacious Lipsticks), and the word holds special significance to Nars.
"I like everything that is very daring," he said. "I love to shock and push buttons and audacious is all of that." Well put, from the man who managed to make "Orgasm" a color.
