Fashion People Are Taking Over the White House Today

Last month, the White House announced some sort of First Lady–hosted fashion shindig would be taking place today, but it’s been pretty much shrouded in secrecy since then, with WWD even reporting that invitees were under a gag order of sorts. Well, today’s the day, and all that pent-up humblebragging is now getting released, as the fashion set is Instagramming calligraphed invites and Michelle Obama “selfies.” Eva Chen, Phillip Lim, Edward Enninful, Cecilia Dean, Zac Posen, and Mary Alice Stephenson are all in the mix. And it’s nice to see some younger talents, like Charles Harbison and Azede Jean-Pierre, were invited, too. The event in question is called the Fashion Education workshop. Below, some of the insiders’ shots— there’s not a red power suit or a pair of relaxed-fit khakis to be found. But you will see Thom Browne rocking shorts in the Oval Office, which is an image that will definitely stay with you.
