When Martha Stewart publicly commented that Gwyneth Paltrow should stop trying to be Martha Stewart, did she realize she was throwing down the gauntlet?

Paltrow has now hired Lisa Gersh, an alumna of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, as the new Goop CEO. Gersh, who previously served as the CEO at MSLO, has a host of new responsibilities, according to the press release sent around this morning: help grow Goop into a global e-commerce giant, expand collaborations and events, launch Goop’s own clothing brand, and, of course, win glory in the age-old rivalry of Goop vs. Martha Stewart.
