It doesn’t even really matter who taped this printout of a Kim Kardashian Instagram to an elliptical at the Planet Fitness in Bushwick. Man or woman, young or old, black or white: This person is all of us, collectively projecting our hopes and dreams onto an unrealistic image of fitness and beauty, hoping that someday our medium level of effort will produce the same physical results as the effort of someone whose literal job it is to look good in selfies.
After witnessing this moment of true honesty, I think we all feel a little less alone.
