After settling with former interns in April, Condé Nast has been forced to pay out $5.8 million, Reuters reports. The class-action lawsuit, filed last year, resulted in the company dismantling its intern program altogether. But before you start going all jubilant Norma Rae, remember that since 7,500 ex-interns are involved, some are only getting about $700 — or one month's rent in Bed-Stuy, with roommates — with the highest payout coming to $1,900 (how many not-reimbursed Starbucks runs does that add up to?).
