Fascia: It's the new part of your body to be anxious about. Lucky for you, it's an amorphous, unseen, scattered bodily element. Gwyneth Paltrow has devoted a Goopsplainer to it, referring to fascia as “the secret organ.”
Fascia, plural fasciae, is the connective tissue around muscles that could be key to posture and shaping organs. One can assign all manner of problems to this aspect of the body, and "structural integrative specialist” Lauren Roxburgh answered now-pressing questions on Goop about it. According to her, it's the cause of "pain, tension, and thickness" and shortness. But, if the fascia is improved, your life is improved. Roxburgh says:
Our bodies store the trauma of our lives in our fascia, which can lead to muscular and structural rigidity. When we release the tension in our fascia and align ourselves with gravity we take a new stance, and not just in our bodies.
With a good fascia comes leanness, elegance, posture. In short, it's the Gwneyth Paltrow of organs.
