On-again, off-again relationships are frustrating and confusing, but they're also incredibly common among young adults, according to research from 2012. Researchers asked nearly 800 young men and women, ages 17 to 24, about their relationships over the previous two years and found that 44 percent of them had gotten back together with an ex during that time period. Side note: The study authors note that relationships during this life stage seem to be marked by "considerable uncertainty," which must either be a cruel attempt at sarcasm or the world's biggest understatement.
