Clearing new hurdles in product placement, Diesel founder Renzo Rosso made a recent visit to the Vatican, where he played jean genie and gave Pope Francis a custom pair of Jogg jeans, the label’s relaxed-fit, sweatpantlike style. Diesel artistic director Nicola Formichetti captured the possibly blasphemous moment — wherein His Holiness is regarding the proffered pants like, “The hell …?” on Instagram. At least they’re white jeans, so maybe they can be shoehorned into the papal dress code.
