In February, Alessandro Michele debuted as the new creative director at Gucci, showing a collection that felt more Wes Anderson than the jet-set sexpot of his predecessors, Frida Giannini and Tom Ford.

Now, he debuts his first ad campaign for the house — and it’s perfectly in line with that vision, with strong ‘70s vibes. Though the clothes in the campaign are from Gianinni’s final collection, pre-fall, Michele’s presence is felt: He traded out Gucci’s usual photographers, Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott — who created many of those glossy, hypersexual campaigns — for photographer Glen Luchford. The campaign, which features models Julia Hafstrom and Jack Chambers and was styled by Joe McKenna, still has lots of skin — but is less overtly sexy than in past seasons.
