In 2013, the Cut’s Ann Friedman told us all about Shine Theory: the idea that surrounding yourself with powerful women (ones you’d normally be intimidated by or jealous of) actually makes you shine more. Now it seems the principle has been adapted by the very fabulous Taraji P. Henson, who applies it to her dating life. In fact, she tells Harper’s Bazaar, her potential mate must also subscribe to the romantic version of Shine Theory in order to qualify:
“He is funny, has personality, he doesn’t take himself too seriously. He needs to be confident in who he is, confident to let me be who I am. And let me shine, you know? My light is only going to enhance his light.”
It’s true: When Taraji shines, we all shine.
