Oh-she's-such-a-Samantha Kim Cattrall has been married thrice and has no children, which the powers at large would tell you is a sin for any woman, anywhere. But Cattrall doesn't care what you think, and furthermore, she bristles at being described as "childless."

"I am not a biological parent, but I am a parent," she said on BBC 4's Woman's Hour. "I have young actors and actresses that I mentor, I have nieces and nephews that I am very close to. There is a way to become a mother in this day and age which doesn't include your name on the child's birth certificate. You can express that maternal side, very clearly, very strongly. It feels very satisfying."

With many women proudly claiming the right to be child-free, and with the popularity of books like Kate Bolick's Spinster and Meghan Daum's Selfish, Shallow, and Self-Absorbed: Sixteen Writers on the Decision Not to Have Kids, saying you don't need to have kids in order to be a mom is an intriguing new option. Our question: Can Cattrall be our mom, too?
