Sky codes for November 2 to November 8

The moon’s glamorous appearance in regal Leo on Tuesday can be a crowning moment of glory for you. The moon is in her last phase before she becomes “new” next week, making it a perfect time to prepare for changes and new intentions. Use the passion of this Scorpio season and the Leo moon to make someone feel special — and that someone could be you.

Bestow heartfelt compliments on others, but don’t forget to keep up your own momentum as you approach any deadlines or finish lines. Your critical moment of glory won’t come from bragging about what you’re going to do or what you’ve done. Last quarter-moons like this one are made to savor the moment while recognizing that nothing lasts forever, even victories. Seize the day, knowing that another day holds other promises and problems. There’s no need to beat yourself down for what didn’t happen or sensationalize yourself. Take each moment as it comes. (However, it can’t hurt to start the week with fun selfies … ever.)

The planetary weather report: Use these guidelines to unlock the stars, not to be locked down by them.

Big sign shifts for a few planets this week: sharp-minded Mercury enters perceptive Scorpio, a new sector for the first time since the end of August, and graceful Venus comes home to her natural love of balance in Libra. As we prepare for next week’s new moon, we’re lucky to have Mercury in Scorpio to sniff out issues and problems that need tweaking. However, as passionate Mars teams up with Venus at the top of the week, it’s easy to be caught up in our desires, whether they’re lusty or blustery with anger. You can carry yourself forward without being carried away. As Venus tips the scales of Libra on Sunday, we can better find that inner poise to relax and glide into the new week. Use the Leonine regality that crowns this week to find your inner Queen Elizabeth, waving along a throng of feelings along while barely flexing your wrist.

Read on for your sign’s sky code.

Scorpio (October 22 to November 21)

The week starts off with shrewd Mercury landing in your sign, so not much will get past you, even though that’s generally true. However, you could be a bit touchier than usual with the moon in Leo as that draws you more toward wanting to be more in control. It won’t be surprising if you clean the hell out of your apartment or office at the top of this week, and you’ll have little patience for much tomfoolery until hump-day. Fortunately, that’s just in time to give something (or someone) your undivided freak on focus.

Sagittarius (November 22 to December 21)

As might-driven Mars and smooth-operating Venus join forces in the part of the sky that speaks on career matters, you’ll feel hyperefficient — ready to put every person and thing in its place. Use the penetrating perceptive powers of Mercury in Scorpio to know when to use more might and will and when to use more grace and smoothness. Take a moment (or two) to study a situation or a person before you feel you’re certain on how to proceed. Your fiery nature may try to use a hammer when you’d be better off using a sonic screwdriver.

Capricorn (December 22 to January 20)

Although you’re generally skeptical of the maxim “if you’re smiling, the whole world smiles along with you,” you’ll be hard-pressed to disbelieve it this week, at least, Cap … There’s more to this though, than just smiling like a doofus. Fortune favors the bold … and the perceptive. Your work and willingness has crowned you with wisdom, just like the bright morning star Venus in Libra we see in the sky at dawn now. So, enjoy these sweet fruits ripening now. Another thing that smile will do: make you blind to the haters, because joy makes haters scamper like vampires at sunrise.

Aquarius (January 21 to February 18)

With the majestic sun and Mercury in piercing Scorpio at the tippy-top of the heavens for you, you’re bringing your A-game to foes and friends alike. They’re not ready for your ninja skills. You could feel uneasy, because the disparity between where you and others are seems so vast. You might even feel tempted to make amends or think you have to help the cosmos be just. Sorry, but that’s your ego speaking. Work and time got you the edge you have now. Things could easily be different tomorrow. Keep the pressure on, because you don’t know where grace, luck, or fortune will land you or others next week.

Pisces (February 19 to March 20)

Last week, you had to open your mind more, but this week you will have to sift through what you’ve downloaded. The insightful quality of Mercury in Scorpio will require you to keep a note-taking app open or pen and paper handy. There could be some bittersweet moments: alternately feeling like you’re on the brink of new worlds opening up while sensing that old ones are about to explode or already have. These “worlds” could be as touchable as long-standing relationships or as finely wired as once-cherished beliefs about how the world works. Be kind to yourself — there’s a lot you’re releasing and taking in simultaneously.

Aries (March 21 to April 19)

With charismatic sun and sharp Mercury in dominant Scorpio, you’ll be tempted to think that you’ll have to “get yours” before someone else does. But this scarcity mentality will likely leave you in the lurch — it always does. With stately Venus’s arrival in fair-minded Libra on Sunday, you’ll get more by minding your manners and using cooperation than thinking like a gangsta. However, that doesn’t mean that “please” and “join” are all the buttons you need to press this week. The pairing between highly capable Mars and Venus in organized Virgo suggests that “making nice” matched with “making plans of your own” forms the winning ticket.

Taurus (April 20 to May 21)

The combination of quick Mercury and the effusive sun in piercing Scorpio, your opposite sign, tips the heavens toward potentially favoring the opinions of others over your own. Don’t spend so much time thinking about how others like (or don’t like) you that you forget to keep up the doting attention you should still be lavishing on yourself in the wake of last week’s Taurus full moon. Fortunately, refined Venus, your sign’s chief planet, reaches fair-minded Libra to keep you on point with your diet, health regimens, and décor. No sense being sweet on others more than yourself. Stay balanced.

Gemini  (May 21 to June 20)

The passionate conjunction between action-hero Mars and starlet Venus have come to bring you focus and grounding. Of course, there’s always a chance of fixation on someone or something when there’s this much celestial charge. However, you’ll have the concentration to tackle tough tasks almost effortlessly. Clean out the gunk under your kitchen sink! Seal those apartment windows from wintry drafts! Sizzle away autumn nights with your cuffing partner! (Okay, that last one shouldn’t be tough.) Nonetheless, once Venus shifts signs into your Libra-lined pleasure zone on Sunday, cut down your task list and slip into a softer and more relaxed focus.

Cancer  (June 21 to July 21)

Some things are indeed priceless. Peace of mind is one of those things. The fervent hookup between contentious Mars and serene Venus might prompt hot and cold tensions with colleagues, neighbors, or siblings. Don’t allow yourself to be swept up by those tensions, especially on Monday, because you’ll fan a fire. Work on a resolution, while tabling any avoidable testy conversations until next week. If you can’t hang that long, then suss out what’s motivating the other person rather than reacting to what he or she says. He or she might have loftier intentions than what’s being conveyed.

Leo  (July 22 to August 21)

The moon kicks off the week in your sign, so that will likely feel glorious for you. The downside is that you might miss subtle issues lurking in the shadows. The mash-up between impulsive Mars and lithe Venus in your second house of finance means that you have an opportunity to earn extra cash, if you’re alert and not frivolously self-indulgent. As the week progresses, you’ll find it easier to convert the garish gloriousness of that Leo moon into a more grounded charm and confidence. Near the weekend, speak up about something important to you, and you will reap helpful feedback.

Virgo (August 22 to September 21)

The match-up between spicy Mars and sexy Venus won’t be in your sign for another two years, so spice up your wardrobe and appearance now. I know you don’t like to splurge, but think of this week’s shopping sprees as acts of self-care. Venus’s entry into Libra on Sunday will likely boost your finances soon. This should help you feel more comfortable about caring for yourself. As chatty Mercury, your sign’s “go-to” planet, settles into snazzy Scorpio, share your recently acquired spiciness by flirting (even subtly) with someone who catches your eye.

Libra (September 22 to October 21)

Last month’s lunar eclipse probably shook things up with heartfelt connections, so it might be hard to know who truly has your back. However, Monday’s heartwarming Leo moon shines in the part of the sky that illuminates your true friends and colleagues. Make it a point to spend time with those folks at the top of the week, and appreciate the sparks they fan off in your heart. Once soothing Venus comes home to your sign on Sunday, you’ll be able to use some of those sparks to ignite new ideas for changing your look and environment.
