The British Fashion Awards take place a week from today, and an exciting new name has been added to the lineup: Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele, who will receive the International Award. Michele's rise has been quick: It's hard to remember he's been in the position for less than a year. (Also being honored: Karl Lagerfeld, who will received the Outstanding Achievement Award.)
“Alessandro Michele is a phenomenon at Gucci," said British Fashion Council chairwoman Natalie Massenet in a statement. "His exciting, eclectic aesthetic has made an overnight impact on global fashion trends. It is not just that he has made the brand covetable and the product so desirable. He has also reinvigorated the retail experience, bringing back playfulness and magic to the flagship store. This is a man who has his customer in his heart and celebrates them."
