Real Wedding Album: A Snowy Penthouse To-Do

By

Meredith Niemczyk, 29, and Patrick McDermott, 31, first met back in 2001 in their high-school Latin class. “We were both pretty shy, so our interactions were limited to reading Virgil together,” Meredith recalls. Seven years later, in 2008, their younger sisters set them up at a summer graduation party in Irvington-on-Hudson. In January, the user-experience researcher and senior analyst exchanged vows at the Rainbow Room, 65 stories above the city. Afterward, 230 guests in black-tie dined on filet mignon and danced until midnight. The weather was “blustery and a real wintry mix,” but there was something ethereal about being on such a high floor. “We were up in the clouds, the fog adding a cool, dreamy effect to the evening,” Meredith recalls. “With the snow outside and the rotating dance floor inside, it felt like we were all part of an enormous snow globe.”
