8 Actually Good Things That Happened This Week

It’s now officially 2016, and while terrible things continue to happen, good things do as well. Here are eight actually good things that happened this week.

1. The FBI is going to start tracking animal-cruelty cases nationwide. Law enforcement will develop a national database for animal-abuse crimes so that they can keep tabs on criminal patterns and help prevent future cases of animal cruelty.

2. Beyoncé’s back. Beyoncé’s returning to the Super Bowl Halftime Show on February 7, making listening to Coldplay only slightly more tolerable.

4. A Vancouver cat cafe temporarily closed after all the kitties were adopted. It’s since reopened so Canadians, go adopt some cats.

5. A man donated a part of his liver to a stranger, and now they’re engaged. Chris Dempsey donated 55 percent of his liver to his co-worker’s family member Heather Krueger, and the two fell in love while recovering from the surgery. They plan to get married in October.

6. Japan built special turtle tunnels to keep them from getting stuck on the train tracks. The tunnels help turtles safely cross the tracks, keeping them from getting stuck and minimizing train delays.

7. You can now get all your advice from Alanis Morissette. She’s agreed to do an advice column for The Guardian, and if it’s not called “You Oughta Know” I’m not going to read it.

8. A shiba inu snuggled with his favorite stuffed animal. Good night.
