Since his suicide in 2010, Alexander McQueen has been the subject of the blockbuster exhibition “Savage Beauty,” a West End play, and too many books to count. Now, the designer’s life is set to get the big-screen treatment. Director Andrew Haigh (whose credits include 45 Years and Weekend) and playwright Chris Urch are collaborating on an as-yet-untitled McQueen film, according to a Deadline report.

The film is being produced by Damian Jones and Pathe, the company behind Suffragette and the upcoming Florence Foster Jenkins. (Jones optioned Blood Beneath the Skin, the McQueen biography by Andrew Wilson that came out last year, but the film will not be directly based on the book.) It sounds like it’s still too early for any casting news, but that doesn’t mean we can’t speculate about who should play the title role — Tom Hardy, anyone?
