Lady Parts Justice Hosts the 2016 State of the Uterus, and It Is the Pre–State of the Union Worth Watching

Before President Obama gave his final State of the Union address, the reproductive-rights organization Lady Parts Justice posted its own.

The org’s mascot, Eunice (yes, a uterus puppet), gave her annual State of the Uterus address and addressed several key women’s health issues that will likely show up in legislation this year.

Eunice began the speech by saying, “It’s very powerful to see the president leave an empty seat in his box as a tribute to the victims of gun violence. Conversely, in 2016, my box is full of uninvited guests.”

She went on to say that she will work with Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who opposed the Defund Planned Parenthood Act, to help ensure women’s rights to their own bodies. Thank you, Eunice. After a 2015 that included constant Republican dialogue surrounding reproductive health, it was high time for a State of the Uterus to kick off the New Year.
