After several women in the music industry accused him of sexual assault, on Tuesday, prominent music publicist Heathcliff Berru resigned as CEO from the PR firm he co-founded. Before he even stepped down, several of his clients had dropped him in solidarity with the women who came forward. Now Killer Mike, another former client and an artist well known for his commitment to social justice, has spoken out, encouraging men in the music industry to stand up against sexual assault.
While Killer Mike’s statement is important, we prefer Dirty Projectors singer Amber Coffman’s wording, who was the first to speak out against Berru: “Men in power need 2 have our backs,” she tweeted. “fuck the boys club.” Preach.
