SNL Addressed Feminism, Bernie, and Millennial Voters

Political opening skits on SNL can be hit or miss, but Saturday night’s was all hit, as a table of young Democratic voters discussed the fact that, despite Hillary Clinton being the most qualified candidate in history, they just can’t resist Bernie. Cue Kate McKinnon dropping in from the ceiling as a manic-eyed, desperate Clinton, belting Bonnie Raitt’s “I Can’t Make You Love Me.” The cold open goes through the laundry list of complaints that have been lodged against Clinton during the primaries. “I like it when Bernie yells but not when Hillary does.” Check. “I’m voting for Hillary because Gloria Steinem and Madeleine Albright said it was my feminist duty.” Check. (But all right, guys, lay off them already.) “I like that Bernie’s an outsider. He’s only been in the Senate for 30 years.” Check. But in the sketch, as in life, Clinton is down after New Hampshire, but still kicking.
