This Woman Engraved Her Husband’s Wedding Ring With a Genius Inscription

“Put it back on.” ABC News/Twitter

Weddings are already sappy enough. So, when it comes time to take the rings to the jeweler, engraving something akin to “Always and forever” might be a little too saccharine. A Michigan woman went the, erm, practical route when she took her husband’s ring to be engraved.

In a winning wife move, she chose the inscription: “Put it back on.”

Whoa, that’s blunt. A not-so-subtle note of caution to the wandering eye, perhaps? But it turns out the Michigan couple has a solid sense of humor. And once the photo of the ring went live, thousands were in on the joke. Reddit viewers looked at the ring on the site more than 780,000 times in less than 24 hours, ABC News reported.

Her husband told ABC News that his wife is a “prankster,” but that only makes their marriage stronger:

“Some people are commenting that she must be insecure or something, but it’s quite the opposite. People tell us we have the best marriage they’ve ever seen.”

Any marriage that starts with a laugh — and a firm reminder of who’s in charge — is surely one for the books.
